New option
I love the smell of books. Since I was a kid the first thing I have done with a book I am interested in is open it to the binding and inhale. This is true of old books or new ones. I love illustrations. I love the act of turning pages. I like carrying a book with me. Having something tangible matters. Reading something on a computer or phone, though convenient, is not the same experience. It reduces the magic of it, and reading should and can be a kind of magic.
I am thankful to those who subscribe to my Substack. And grateful to those who pay to subscribe. I will continue to post here, but wanted to offer another option, one I feel better about. I like making things by hand, I always have. Effort is something I equate to value and quality, in my own work.
I am offering a subscription service where I will mail you small handmade books, 4 per year. They will be comprised of work: written, drawn, photographed, and assembled by me. Most of the content will never appear on Substack, and some will not be published anywhere other than in the quarterly.
I will not be charging a sum that will make me much money after shipping costs, supplies, and time, but I would much rather do it this way. Payments will be through Venmo, PayPal, or cash in person.
$100 per year

$60 per six months
